The Dutch Open

The Dutch Open – organized by the Dutch Darts Assocation – may welcome already a strong field of players.   Among the entries are both winners of last year, Martin Adams and Deta Hedman, and the entire Dutch selection including Joey ten Berge and Willy van de Wiel. 

Spectacle is guaranteed in Veldhoven early February!

The Dutch Open will be organized on February 4th, 5th, 6th  2011 for the 33rd time and of course the NDB gives her best to make sure this edition will be a fantastic experience also.

Attention! Registration is possible up to and including Sunday January 9th 2011 through www.dutchopendarts.nl. Competing in the Dutch Open Darts is possible individually in the single tournament (Men single, Ladies single, Youth single), but also together in the pairs tournament (Men pairs and Ladies pairs).

We have a attractive prize fund of € 32.000,-! However most participants travel to Holland for the great atmosphere and the high degree of sociability. So: register for the Dutch Open 2011 and experience a great weekend together with a lot of other darts fans. Overnight stays can only be booked with NH Conference Centre Koningshof. In cooperation with NH Conference Centre Koningshof a few interesting arrangements have been composed. These arrangements can be booked by both players and spectators.

WDF Monetary Awards: Wolfie & Deta top the 2010 rankings

The WDF World Ranking Tables for 2010 are now complete. As is customary, the WDF rewards the most successful players on a worldwide basis in  the form of The WDF Annual Monetary Awards. The awards go to the top five men and women in the WDF World Rankings after the conclusion of the final event of 2010. In addition awards are presented to the top three men and women who finished outside the top five but were best in the three regions which are: Americas, Asia/Pacific and Europe. The following players will all be receiving their awards early in the New Year.

Philippine Masters and the Philippine International Open of 2010

The Philippine Masters and the Philippine International Open of 2010 was held two days in a row with players from Malaysia, Sabah, England, Brunei, Dubai and Sweden.

The Philippine Masters was won by 3-time Philippine Open (2006, 2007 & 2008) Champion, 2009 French and Korean Opens and 2010 Malaysian Open Singles Champion Ronald “The Highlander” Briones 6-4 and now reigns as the Philippines top player over the newest darting sensation 18 year old Jaypee Detablan. While comebacking Arnie Ticman lorded it over Angie Balmadrid 5-3.

The Philippine International Darts Open was won in convincing fashion by the 18 year old Jaypee Detablan 6-0 over Edward Santos while Analiza Awitan took her 3rd Philippine International Darts Open in a row over team mate Kristine Calderon in a decider 5-4.

Zuiderduin Masters 2010: Results Overview

Scotland’s Ross Montgomery made a sensational recovery to land the Zuiderduin Masters title in Egmon aan Zee today. He went into the interval 4-0 down in sets but staged a tremendous fight back to clinch the title by 5 sets to 4. England’s Trina Gulliver also came from behind when she took the last two sets to record a narrow 2-1 win over Francisca Hoenselaar. The Youth title went to Jimmy Hendriks who recorded a 3-0 victory over Ricky de Vos.

Zuiderduin Masters International Darts Event

Best group of players ever?

This year, at the 10th edition of the Masters, the best group of players to ever participate at the event  is present. Amongst  the 24 men and 8 women playing in  the Zuiderduin Masters 2010 there are many world class players.

For example, 3 times Winmau World Champion, and twice winner of the Lakeside World Pro, Martin Adams, and Ted Hankey. Ted also won twice the Lakeside World Pro title and recently beat 15 times PDC World Champion, Phil Taylor in a match at the Grandslam of Darts.

Darts in Germany accepted into the German Olympic Sports Federation

At a meeting of the German Olympic Sports Federation in Munich on Saturday 4th. the DDV, the German Darts Federation, won a vote to become a member of the DOSB.

With representatives of the other recognised sport federations present in a voting capacity the DDV won a resounding victory gaining a unanimous vote of 461 to zero.



Italian Open 2010 – titles for Franco Bertini and Laura Ariani

Franco Bertini has won the Italian Open mens singles title in Pieve di Cento. He beat fellow Italian Luca Catallo 5 – 2 in the final.  The ladies title went to Laura Ariani when she defeated Giadi Ciofi 4 – 2.
