Benito van de Pas and Deta Hedman win 23rd BULL´S German Open

From April 15th to April 17th 2011 the 23rd BULL´S German Open was held at Bochum. It was more than 800 men and about 160 women who had inscribed for the singles on Saturday. Defending Champion Dean Winstanley went out 1:3 in round 1 against Markus Harris from England. Martin Adams, Champion 2001 and 2007, lost 2:3 in the last 32 against Steve Douglas. The semifinals saw a great match when Tony O´Shea won 2:1/2:1 with an average of 30.32 against Gary Thomson (Av. 29.88). The other semi with two Dutchmen at the Oche was won with the same result by  Benito van de Pas (Av. 24.55) against Jan Dekker (24.11). In the final it was Newcomer Benito van de Pas, who won the first two Sets 2:1 and 2:0 agaist Tony O´Shea. But Silverback came back and levelled the score by 2:0 and 2:0 to 2-2 by sets, beginning set 3 with two 180s in a row. The last set had to be won by two clear legs. With Tony being 2:1 in front, it was Benito who won the next 3 legs in a row, finishing 87 for his first big WDF/BDO title (Averages: Benito 31.74 – Tony 31.97).

In the women´s singles Bianka Strauch was best German, losing the quarterfinal 0:3 against Lorraine Farlam. Lorraine also won the semifinal 2:1 and 2:0 against Aileen de Graaf from the Netherlands. Her opponent in the final was Deta Hedman, who won her semi 2:0/2:0 against Karen Lawman. The final was clearly dominated by Deta, winning 2:0 and 2:0 against Lorraine, achieving an average of 25.37 (Lorraine 21.84). For Deta, who already reached the final 1994 and 1996, it was the first German Open title.

On Sunday there were nearly 100 boys and over 30 girls competing for the youth titles. In an all-dutch boy´s final it was Tim van de Hoek (Av. 27.48) winning 2:1, 1:2 and 2:1 against last year´s champion Jeffrey de Zwan (Av. 26.21) and displaying an 128-finish for the match. Best german Player was Manuel Stangl as third.

Registration for the 23rd Bull’s German Open

The registration for the 23. BULL’S German Open has ended.

The 1st Dart-Sport-Club Bochum is proud to announce the attendance of 818 Men, 161 Ladies, 96 Boys and 32 Girls. In the doubles we’ll have 248 Men’s-teams, 54 ladies-teams and 117 Teams in the warm-up competition to be starting.

All top-players of the WDF will be starting in Bochum.

The reigning world-champions Martin Adams and Trina Gulliver, world top ranked players Dean Winstanley and Deta Hedman will stay at the oches in Bochum as well as a huge number of top players from Europe and a lot of amateur players.

One important information for all car-travellers: From Friday 15-04-2011 9 p.m. until Monday 18-04-2011 5 a.m. the motorway A40 in direction east (Essen – Dortmund) will be shut down between the exits Bochum-Wattenscheid-West (29) and Bochum-Hamme (33). In direction west (Dortmund – Essen) the motorway A40 will be shut down in the area of exit Bochum-Stahlhausen (32)! Please consider this closure for your journey!
