The World heads to Bridlington for BDO British Open
This year’s BDO British Open at The Spa, Bridlington from September 16th to 18th, will have a unique bonus, with many overseas countries en-route to the WDF World Cup in Castle Bar, County Mayo, Ireland entering their players for what can only be described as a truly competitive ‘warm-up’ at the 2011 BDO British Open.
The WDF World Cup will be played in Ireland on 21-24 September and many of the countries travelling long distances, like Australia and the USA, are taking the opportunity to enter their players in the BDO British Open.
Among the most recent to apply is the team from the Bahamas, and Olly Croft, OBE, Managing Director of BDO Enterprises Ltd, predicts that this year’s BDO British Open will have the most Internationally competitive field ever assembled.
“A lot of the countries travelling long-haul to Ireland obviously feel that it makes sense to let their players compete in Bridlington,” he says, “and I have just been in communication with Malcolm Spicer, President of the Bahamas Darts Federation requesting entry details for the BDO British Open.
“Needless to say, we are delighted to welcome any of the players from the teams competing in the 2011 World Cup and look forward to a truly International BDO British Open in Bridlington.”
