The WDF World Cup 2011 is less than 2 months away.  It will take place between September 21-24, 2011 in Castlebar, Ireland.

New Pacific Masters Champions

The 34th running of the prestigious Pacific Darts Masters at the East Devonport Recreation Centre in Devonport Tasmania Australia saw over 200+ players competing for WDF, BDO and DFA ranking points and the $5000.00 prize money on offer.

Gosnells a suburb of Perth in Western Australia has a new darts Champion in Damon Heta (left in image). He put in a powerful display of darts to out point South Australian Andrew Townes 6 – 4 in the final.

In the semi finals Damon Heta defeated Jason Murdoch from Forbes (NSW) 5 – 4 in a thrilling world class contest while Andrew Townes defeated former World Champion from Perth Tony David 5 – 0.

Pam Burr, (pictured left in the image) from southeast Queensland had a huge day winning her first Pacific Masters title from a field of 82 of Australia’s best players. This was Pam Burr’s greatest win since winning the Australian Singles title back in 1995. In the final she defeated the very experienced Victorian in Carol Forwood 
4 – 0.

Burr had a strong victory over Western Australian Natalie Carter in a great contest in the first semi final winning 3 – 1. Forwood defeated Western Australian Robyn McCloy in the second semi final 
3 – 0.

All India National Darts Championships 2011

The 9th All-India National Darts Championships was played at the Expotel in Hyderabad last week We have received the following results from the All India Darts Association.

Netherlands Boys and England Girls Win Europe Cup Youth

The Boys from the Netherlands dominated the Europe Cup Youth which was played in Aberdeen, Scotland. They won the Singles with Jimmy Hendriks defeating Jake Jones (England) by 3 sets to 1. They also took the Pairs title with Jeffrey de Zwaan & Mike Zuijdwijk defeating fellow teammates Jerry Hendriks & Jimmy van Schie  by 4 legs to nil. England won the Team Event defeating the Netherlands 9-6 to secure second place in the overall cup.

The England Girls (Fallon Sherrock & Felica Blay) won the Overall Cup thanks to their 4-2 victory over Scotland (Emily Davidson & Louise Duncan) in the Pairs Event. The host nation Scotland took second place followed by Sweden in third. Alannah Waters from Wales won the Girls Singles event with a 4-0 win over Sweden’s Sarah Rosen. Despite this Wales could only manage 4th place in the Overall Cup.

ESPN to screen 2011 Winmau World Masters

The 2011 Winmau World Masters will be a 4 day tournament, commencing on Thursday, September 1st and ending on Sunday, September 4th – with ESPN screening play on Friday, September 2nd, Saturday, September 3rd and Sunday, September 4th.

Live and Exclusive from HULL ARENA: September 2nd, 3rd and 4th

The 2011 Winmau World Masters will be shown live and exclusively by sports media company ESPN and extended to a three-day televised event from Friday, September 2nd to Sunday, September 4th in a new broadcasting agreement with the British Darts Organisation.

“After nine consecutive years with BBC Sport, the World Masters is moving to ESPN,” says Olly Croft, managing director of BDO Enterprises Ltd.

 

“In thanking the BBC for establishing the World Masters as a TV favourite, we are now delighted to be forging a new and innovative broadcasting relationship with ESPN to provide an even bigger three-day tournament from a venue new to BDO darts for our players, officials and sponsors.”

The World Masters will be shown on ESPN live from Hull Arena on Friday, September 2nd, Saturday, September 3rd and Sunday, September 4th and heralds a new era of television exposure for BDO darts and its players.

The event will mark ESPN’s first live darts programming in the UK and confirms the sports broadcasters’ continued effort to broaden the range and variety of UK sports programming it offers fans.

ESPN’s live televised darts coverage will be led by Ray Stubbs, presenter of both the BDO World Professional Darts Championships and the Winmau World Masters for several years during his time with the BBC. All discussion and analysis will come live from the tournament, capturing the environment and connecting viewers to the unique atmosphere of live darts.
