Three names have been added to the list of participants for the upcoming world top darts tournament, the Zuiderduin Masters. These players qualified last weekend in a special play off tournament, the Champions League of Darts.
The winner of the men’s tournament, ladies tournament and junior tournament are invited to play the Zuiderduin Masters. This can be the start for these players to become a top ranked world darts player.
Last weekend a new talent from Friesland, Dennie Bos, won the men’s tournament. Dennie knocked out Mike Zuydwijk in a thrilling final. Mike played in the Zuiderduin Masters Youth tournament in 2011. He was the runner up and this year he made his debut in the men’s competition. For Dennie Bos this was the first time he played on a big stage and now makes his debut on a world stage where he will play in front of the eye of the camera .
Aileen de Graaf of Bunschoten Spakenburg won the ladies tournament. Aileen was the runner up of the Zuiderduin Masters 2011. In the final she lost world #1, Deta Hedman.
Aileen play against Carla Molema in the finals. Carla, a Zuiderduin Masters participant in 2009, is working on a come back and hoped with the CLoD to reach the world stages this year, but unfortunately for her Aileen took the victory in the finale.
Jeffrey de Zwaan became the first International Zuiderduin Masters Youth 2012 tournament. Twice, in 2010 and 2011, Jeffrey already played the Zuiderduin Masters youth tournament, then by invitation. Jeffrey knocked out Mats Gies in the final. For Mats, it was the first time he had to play a major final.
For the men’s tournament, we now know of two participants: Martin Adams (he won the MariFlex Open 2012) and Dennie Bos. In the women’s tournament we know now Deta Hedman (MariFlex Open 2012 ladies winner ) and Aileen de Graaf. Quin Wester (youth winner of the MariFlex Open 2012) and Jeffrey de Zwaan Swan are the two names we know for the youth tournament.
The men’s tournament will have 24 participants. 16 of these players are invited based on the Zuiderduin Masters rankings. This Sunday, the 16th of September, is the cut off with the last tournament on the list, the Antwerp open. In addition, players are invited with wildcards, the NDB selects a player of the Dutch national selection, and the best player of the Dutch national rankings on 28 October.
