The FDO organised a double header for the first time
this weekend. A singles event on Saturday and one on
Sunday.
Deta Hedman, England, won both the ladies events. With
only one other lady taking part ranked in the WDF top
40 the way was clear for Deta to take her 6th Finland
Open title and she took full advantage. The last time
she won this event was in 1996.
Deta defeated home favourite Tarja Salminen in both
the Saturday and the Sunday finals.
In the mens events Englands Paul Knighton took the
Saturday title beating Johnny Nils, Netherlands.
Neither could repeat that on the Sunday though as the
home country had both finalists. Esko Pietikäinen
defeated Jaakko Kiiski to take the title.
