BRUNO RAES AND PATRICIA DE PUETER WIN THE BELGIAN
GOLD CUP 2008
Bruno Raes, who disappeared from the
international
dart scene
after
the 1996 Embassy, won the Belgian Gold Cup title
with
a very
close
win against Harry Famaey. Bruno, for many years
a regular
in the
national
team,
is only 40 years old and
is
now looking forward to
making a return to the international
circuit.
The
losing
semi-finalists were Stefano Gaspari and
Tony Martinez.
By
losing
the final in the deciding leg of the last set
Famaey
also lost
his ticket
to
the Europe Cup
2008.
Harry
needed the win to make the team. Geert De Vos, Dirk Hespeels and
Patrick Bulen
reached
the quarter-finals
which was enough to secure their places in the team for
Danmark. The team will be completed
by Ronny Huybrechts.
Patricia De Peuter won the
women's Gold Cup by
defeating Nicole Delie
in the final.
These
two will
probably make up the Belgian Women's team for Copenhagen but this has
yet to be confirmed. De Peuter's participation is uncertain which could
open the door for
Ann
Goossens
who
is the reserve at the moment.
Cedric Taymans (boys), Dana Verhaegen (girls) and Lorenzo Van
Hove (aspirants) were the other Gold Cup winners.
The pairs titles went to Huybrechts-Huybrechts (men), Dessein-De
Becker (women) and R. Huybrechts-De Peuter
(mixed).
